Coding assessments that actually run the code

CogniHR runs executable coding assessments in 71 programming languages. Candidate submissions are compiled and run against hidden test cases and scored automatically, alongside AI-generated aptitude questions written for the specific role. Assessment is included in the platform, not a paid HackerRank or Codility add-on.

Code is compiled and executed, not pattern-matched

Submissions run in a sandboxed execution environment against test cases the candidate cannot see. A solution passes because it works, not because it contains the right keywords — which is the difference between screening for ability and screening for vocabulary.

  • 71 languages including Python, Java, Go, Rust, C++ and JavaScript
  • Hidden test cases, pass/fail per case
  • Deterministic scoring with no manual review needed to shortlist

Questions written for the role you are hiring for

Point the generator at a job and it writes both the aptitude section and the coding problems for that role, then a review agent refines them. You are not picking from a generic test library that every candidate has already seen.

  • Aptitude and coding sections generated together
  • Problems refined by a reviewing agent before release
  • Editable before you send anything to a candidate

Candidates take it from a link, with no account

Each invitation carries a single-use tokenised link with an expiry. Candidates do not create an account, do not install anything, and cannot retake the assessment after submitting — the invite is spent once the answers are in.

  • Single-use link, no candidate signup
  • Expiry per invite, with automated reminders before it closes
  • Results attached to the candidate record on submission

Frequently asked questions

Are CogniHR coding assessments actually executed, or just reviewed?

Executed. Candidate code is compiled and run in a sandboxed environment against hidden test cases, with pass or fail recorded per case and a score calculated automatically. It is not keyword matching or AI review of the code text.

Who writes the assessment questions?

They are generated for the specific role by an AI model and refined by a reviewing agent, covering both aptitude and coding sections. You can edit anything before it is sent, so the generated set is a starting draft rather than a fixed test.

Can a candidate retake an assessment?

No. Each invitation is a single-use tokenised link with an expiry date. Once the candidate submits, the invite is spent and the same link cannot be used to start again.

Does an assessment cost extra?

No. Assessments are part of the platform and consume AI credits like other automated work. Greenhouse, Ashby and Workable typically require a paid HackerRank or Codility subscription alongside the base contract.
